There are 2 things a New Buyer looks at when they see a property for the 1st time. #1 the size and the spaciousness of the home #2 Cleanliness, The Carpet tells a lot about the home, if the carpet is clean or new, then the natural though is that the home has been well maintained resulting in the buyer to become less critical as they inspect the rest of the home. If the carpet is light this will give a feeling of spaciousness. It is not necessary to spend a lot of money for high end carpet but it is a wise choice put something mid range in if you want your home to sell a little faster with out having to drop price, which in most cases is more than new carpet is worth.
